Why Choose a Green Façade System for Your Building?
Urban temperatures continue to rise each year, largely due to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, which causes cities to retain more heat than surrounding rural areas. This persistent heat presents challenges for public health, building integrity, and urban infrastructure.
In response to these challenges, bioreceptive concrete offers a promising solution for retrofitting existing structures. VertiScape has been developed in alignment with future urban standards. It helps mitigate the UHI effect, manage excess rainwater, capture CO₂, and create new opportunities for biodiversity in urban settings. The system utilizes specially engineered bioreceptive concrete designed to support moss growth. This not only adds a natural visual element to built environments but also contributes to improved air quality and ecological diversity. By integrating VertiScape into urban architecture, cities can move towards more climate-resilient and sustainable environments. The system offers a practical intersection between aesthetic value and environmental performance.
Benefits of a Green Facade System
Experience the beauty of nature in your building with VertiScape. VertiScape plaster retrofits existing walls with a layer of bioreceptive concrete directly plastered onto existing walls. This specialised concrete acts as a perfect substrate for moss growth, fostering a vibrant and sustainable vertical landscape. By incorporating VertiScape plaster into your facade, you can transform existing walls into lush greenery, adding a touch of natural beauty, promoting biodiversity, and reducing heat stress in the building and neighborhood. That is why bioreceptive concrete represents an opportunity for renovating existing infrastructures in line with the urban standards of the future. It helps to reduce the heat island effect, assists with CO₂ capture, and promotes new spaces for biodiversity in cities.
Layers
1. Existing wall.
2. Water retention (in consultation with client).
3. Depending on roughness of existing layer,
a adhesion bridge will be needed.
4. Bioreceptive concrete (15-25mm).
5. Moss layer (+/-25mm).
